In Memory of Mark (kram666)We are sure many of you in the fractal world, here at dA, know of the terrible loss of one of the most amazing fractal artists *kram666. Mark was not only a fantastic fractal artist, but also a great friend to many and always full of the nicest things to say. I know I was always dumbfounded why he would ever fave any of my fractals when they never even came close to the work he did, but he was always full of encouragement and never once let a thank you go by without saying, "You're welcome." I know James and I will also miss the wonderful photos of his dear foxes, as well as his gentle free spirit that made dA a nicer place for so many of us. He will truly be missed by us all.
Every time we fire one up, we will be thinking of you, Mark!

Fantastic Fractalicious Fractals issue 14The first issue of this year! This time I want to present some of the coolest fractals from 2011, it was really difficult to pick out some faves of the year, you are too good!!! But first, a short resume of last year's happenings.
What happened last year?
Pretty lot! There have been fractal circles with tweaking fractals around, both in the group :#fractalcircles: and ponging parameters in :#aposhack: , Light `SuicideBySafetyPin introduced us for the Inspiration station, the fractal flash mob, a collective feature of different artists. *heavenriver has her UF challenge going on http://heavenriver.deviantart.com/journal/Ultra-Fractal-monthly-Challenges-Redux-Vol-12-277027446 and `f--l--A--r--k has his Apo challenge http://fav.me/d4l1fc6 and it would be great if we could keep up supporting them! Hello all,
This is Simon, Mark's brother, with the terribly sad news that Mark passed away last week.
This was a huge shock to us all.
I helped him set up his PC with all his drawing tools so knew how much he adored producing his bespoke digital artwork and how much the Deviant art community meant to him.
On his behalf I'd like to thank you all for the friendship and support you've shown and would ask you to pause for a minute at 14:20 on Monday 1st October.

Last Honor for a recently passed away deviantHello there fello friends, watchers and deviants...
One week ago was a sad day for the family of :iconkram666: and the deviant community.
He passed away at the age of only 48. Him who was so dedicated to digital art will never leave anyone of us a comment or reply to those given to him. He will never again fill our inboxes with his colorful fractals or cute photos of the foxes.
But even if his body has passed away - he will stay alive within us and within the art in his gallery.
I'm sure that he is somewhere where he can still appreciate our support of his art, so this is my hommage to a wonderful artist AND his family.

A Community says GoodbyeI believe the number of journal entries about Mark's passing away are testaments to the fraternal love that we have for the members of our community. I found the reactions heartwarming. Mark was a very good friend here for me, as he was for many people here. He was always encouraging people and never had a bad word to say, We would comment back and forth every day. Uncanny how you can get close just by using the internet. It always amazes me. I will miss him greatly. Here's a send off my good friend from your friends here at Deviant Art.

Many of you know that we have lost a precious and talented artist in

.....also known as Mark.
His cheerful comments and and fantastic fractals will be forever remembered by those who came to know him here in the Deviant Art community......and especially in the fractal art community.

Below is just small sampling of the many outstanding, colorful and unique works created by him, as well as photographs of Roxy and Ronny, and a sample of his outstanding work in macro photography..........

Ayahuasca ~
"I felt the call of the jungle, primal and clean. I felt my connections to the wild in every cell in my body; realized that I am among the trees, the plants, the grass, the sky. The trees know me and I am never alone. We are all one and we exist everywhere. It was like coming home to the greatest welcome back party imaginable. The love and purity of the trees surrounded and dazzled me. I went outside to lie in the grass. I needed to be there, to feel the dirt beneath my feet, the stars above my head and the wet grass in my fingers. The stars were like diamonds in a velvet black sky, their light radiating beams of positivity and love down to us all. "
